Concrete barriers installed to block collapsed section of Gua Musang-Lojing road

GUA MUSANG: Several concrete barriers have been installed by the Public Works Department (JKR) to prevent road users from passing through the collapsed road section on the Gua Musang-Lojing Road near Pos Blau here.

Gua Musang OCPD Supt Sik Choon Foo said the installation of the barriers involved two locations: KM44 of the Gua Musang-Lojing Road and KM48 of the Lojing-Gua Musang Road.

Supt Sik said that his department could take action against any individual who violates the closure order for the Gua Musang-Lojing Road by imposing a compound of RM500 under Section 79(2) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"We hope road users, including motorcyclists, will not risk their lives by travelling through the affected landslide area.

"So far, two summonses have been issued to motorcyclists who violated the road closure order," he said when contacted by reporters on Saturday (Dec 6).

Previously, it was reported that a teenage boy broke his left arm after the vehicle he was driving fell into a ravine due to a landslide at KM45 of the Gua Musang-Lojing Road on Dec 3.

Meanwhile, Kelantan JKR director Nik Badlihisham Nik Ismail said his department is currently studying the repair work at the collapsed site.

The JKR Slope Engineering Branch officers conducted an inspection on Dec 3, and the collapsed road is still under study for repairs.

He said road users can use the existing federal road as an alternative route.
