IGP no-show, traffic disrupted as protestors rally for missing daughter’s return


KUALA LUMPUR: About 15 protestors, including M Indira Gandhi and Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) chairman Arun Doraisamy, moved their demonstration from a sidewalk to the middle of the road opposite the main entrance to Bukit Aman following the no-show of Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail.

The protestors, who were carrying placards, hindered traffic flow, especially tour buses carrying tourists.

Police negotiated with the group and advised them to call off the protest and disperse for safety reasons.

Earlier, the group stated that it would resort to “confrontational action” if the country’s top cop fails to show up.

The group of 80 supporters on Saturday (Nov 22) had marched from the Sogo shopping centre, about 2km away, to Bukit Aman, demanding urgent police action to locate Indira Gandhi’s missing daughter, Prasana Diksa.

Arun said that the IGP and the police had been informed that the group wished to meet him at 12pm at Bukit Aman Police Station.

However, the IGP had yet to show up as of 2:30pm.
