Five-year-old boy dies after alleged slashing in Sibu


SIBU: A five-year-old boy died, believed to have been slashed, in an incident at a house in Jalan Rantau Panjang Jaya here on Friday (Aug 28) afternoon.

Sibu OCPD Asst Comm Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said a man in his late 40s, believed to be a relative of the victim, has been detained to assist in investigations.

However, he declined to reveal further details, including the motive behind the incident.

"So far, we have conducted preliminary investigations at the scene," he briefly told reporters.

The victim was taken to the Sibu Hospital Emergency Unit, where he was pronounced dead.

Police are expected to issue a further statement once preliminary investigations are completed.- Bernama
