Indira Gandhi, supporters stage camp at Bukit Aman demanding meeting with IGP

KUALA LUMPUR: Members of the Indira Gandhi Action Team (Ingat) say they would camp out opposite Bukit Aman until the Inspector-General of Police, Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail, meets them.

The group of 80 supporters, together with M Indira Gandhi, had earlier marched from the Sogo shopping centre, about 2 kilometres away, to Bukit Aman.

Speaking outside the police station, Indira said she would wait outside the police station to meet the IGP

“IGP is saying he has got work, he is busy, is this not part of his job?

“We have walked so far to come here,” she said.

Meanwhile, Ingat chairman Arun Dorasamy said he gave a notice to the IGP and the department via email 22 days ago.

"We will protest in the middle of the road if the IGP refuses to meet us," he said.

About 50 police personnel are in the vicinity keeping watch of the gathering.

Indra Gandhi said she only seeks a five-minute meeting with the IGP to express her disappointment of regaining custody of her daughter, which she had sought for over 16 years.

"All I ask is five minutes. I am not here to cause problems. I just want to tell the IGP what I am going through and have been through," she said.
