Motorcyclist dies in collision with car in Kluang


KLUANG: A motorcyclist was killed on the spot after the superbike he was riding crashed into a car at KM44, Jalan Batu Pahat-Mersing.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident happened on Sunday (Nov 16) at 10pm.

He said the 56-year-old victim, a local man, was travelling from Ayer Hitam towards Kluang while the car driven by a senior citizen was coming from the opposite direction,

“The male Malaysian driver had abruptly turned right at the junction, causing both vehicles to crash into each other,’’ ACP Bahrin said in a statement on Monday (Nov 17).

He said the motorcyclist who suffered from severe injuries was pronounced dead at the scene, while the 74-year-old driver escaped unhurt.

He said the car’s passenger, a 70-year-old local woman, sustained injuries and was being treated at Kluang Hospital.

The case was investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
