Kedah tables RM1.33bil budget for 2026

ALOR SETAR: The Kedah government has tabled its Budget 2026 amounting to RM1.33bil for the state’s operating and development expenditure next year, with a projected deficit of 11.81%, or RM99mil.

Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor (pic) said the allocation covers operating expenditure, the State Development Fund, the Forest Development Fund and the Water Supply Fund.

"The Kedah Budget 2026 marks the first budget under the 13th Malaysia Plan and continues to advance the Kedah Development Plan 2035 and the Greater Kedah 2050 agenda,” he said when tabling the budget at the state assembly sitting here on Monday (Nov 10).

Sanusi said that for next year, the state government expects to collect RM838mil in revenue,  an increase of RM48mil from this year's estimate.

He said the projected revenue comprised land revenue (RM554.81mil), miscellaneous revenue (RM232.88mil), forest revenue (RM33mil) and district revenue (RM17.31mil).

"The 2026 operating expenditure is estimated at RM937mil, an increase of RM47.1mil or 5.29%. Of this amount, RM91.4mil is allocated for the State Development Fund to cover the deficits.

"Under operating expenditure, RM87.33mil is allocated for charged expenditure, while RM849.67mil is for supply expenditure,” he added. – Bernama
