MACC to step up global hunt for Muhyiddin's son-in-law, lawyer

SUBANG JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) is intensifying its international search for lawyer Mansoor Saad and businessman Datuk Seri Muhammad Adlan Berhan, both key figures in a high-profile corruption case and currently believed to be overseas.

MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Azam Baki (pic) confirmed the ongoing search.

"Lawyer Mansoor Saad is still at large, a fugitive overseas.

"I cannot ascertain his whereabouts now. The same applies to Adlan Berhan, who is also overseas as mentioned yesterday," he told the press after attending a high-level dialogue on private sector compliance organised by the MACC and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) here on Thursday (Oct 30).

Azam said the MACC is working with international agencies, including the Home Ministry and Interpol, to locate the fugitives.

However, he noted that one country could not assist due to differences in legal systems, particularly regarding caning, which affects extradition processes.

The investigation into Muhammad Adlan, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, centres on corruption and misappropriation linked to a ministry project.

The MACC has completed recording all necessary witness statements and is now awaiting the next legal steps.
