Shocked over temple roof collapse


DEVOTEES of a Hindu temple in Teluk Intan, Perak, were shocked to find the building’s roof had partially collapsed.

Temple committee chairman Nagaraju Sivachalam said the incident occurred between Friday night and Saturday morning, Makkal Osai reported.

Based on the damage, the ­temple committee suspected that a lorry had hit the column, and made a police report.

> The Indian Supreme Court rejected a request from the Tamil Nadu government to intervene in an investigation into ­illegal organ donations in the state, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Tamil Nadu was recently rocked by allegations that poor farmers and labourers in the state had been exploited to donate their kidneys.

The Madurai branch of the Chennai High Court ordered the formation of a special task force to investigate the matter, while the state government sought to have a say in the officers appointed to the task force.
