Govt allocates RM50mil for non-Muslim houses of worship in Budget 2026

PETALING JAYA: The government has allocated RM50mil under Budget 2026 for the repair and maintenance of registered non-Muslim houses of worship nationwide, including in Sabah and Sarawak, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

He said the allocation reflects the government’s commitment to supporting Malaysia’s multi-religious society and ensuring that places of worship remain well-maintained.

Anwar also unveiled the Kota Madani concept, inspired by the Madani philosophy of sustainability, inclusivity, and progress. Kota Madani Precinct 19 in Putrajaya would be developed as Malaysia’s first smart, AI-driven and green city, featuring 10,000 housing units, with 80% reserved for civil servants.

To optimise land use in high-density areas, the government would also introduce the Vertical School model. This model combines schools and residential units within a single building to better use urban space.

The model would be implemented through three pilot projects: Kota Madani Precinct 19 in Putrajaya, Rumah Bakat Madani SkyWorld Pearlmont in Seberang Perai, Penang and Residensi Aman Madani in Bandar Sri Permaisuri, Kuala Lumpur.

Anwar said these initiatives form part of the government’s broader effort to build liveable, inclusive and sustainable urban communities in line with the Madani framework.
