PUTRAJAYA: Artificial intelligence will soon assist the police in drafting and processing the roughly 400,000 police reports received nationwide each month, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
Speaking after launching the Home Ministry's AI Digital Human initiative on Monday (Sept 14), the Home Minister clarified that while AI will generate initial drafts to speed up administrative workflows, human oversight remains mandatory.
“Using AI technology in preparing an investigation paper means producing its initial draft,” Saifuddin explained. “However, before any document is submitted to a deputy public prosecutor, the investigating officer—holding the rank of Inspector—remains strictly responsible for verifying the facts.”
Saifuddin urged all agency leaders under the Home Ministry to actively implement AI solutions within their respective departments to boost productivity and reduce operational costs.
“The leadership of every agency must now move these initiatives from concept to implementation to simplify and accelerate their operations,” he said. “We want AI applications that enhance efficiency, speed up service delivery, and generate cost savings—with the ultimate impact felt directly by the public.”
Addressing the newly launched AI Digital Human initiative, Saifuddin noted that the public-facing application is designed to make citizen interactions with the ministry simpler, faster, and more user-friendly.
