KLUANG: Police are investigating an incident in which eight LED screens belonging to the Kluang Municipal Council were allegedly hacked to display obscene content.
Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received a report from a 42-year-old local man regarding the incident on Friday (Oct 30).
"Initial investigations found that the complainant was informed by his staff on Thursday (Oct 29) that eight LED screens installed around Kluang had been hacked.
"The complainant subsequently received several WhatsApp messages containing screenshots and videos showing obscene content being displayed on the screens,” he said in a statement.
ACP Bahrin said the complainant contacted the supplier for verification before cutting off the power supply to the affected screens to stop the display.

The case is also being investigated under Section 292 of the Penal Code for displaying obscene material, which carries a maximum jail term of three years and a fine upon conviction.
"Police view the incident seriously, and a thorough investigation is underway.
"We advise the public against making speculations or spreading unverified information regarding the incident," ACP Bahrin added.
Those with information or enquiries are urged to contact the Kluang district police headquarters at 07-778 4222 or its hotline at 07-776 6822.
