PETALING JAYA: Several resolutions to strengthen the fight against corruption were adopted at the Third High-Level Meeting of Heads of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states in Baku, Azerbaijan.
Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman said the two-day meeting successfully formulated and adopted several resolutions aimed at strengthening anti-corruption efforts.
He said Malaysia also presented the government’s position on various issues discussed during the meeting.
“Platforms such as this are important as they allow OIC member states to discuss common challenges while strengthening ties and cooperation among countries,” he said at a press conference in Baku on Wednesday (Oct 28).
Abd Halim also expressed his appreciation to the Azerbaijani leadership for successfully hosting the significant international meeting.
“I would like to congratulate Azerbaijan, under the leadership of its President, for successfully hosting such a major and important conference,” he said.
He described the people of Azerbaijan as friendly and renowned for their warm hospitality towards visitors.
He added that Baku was not only a city rich in history, but also a place where the warmth of its people had made the Malaysian delegation feel at home.
“The people of Azerbaijan treat visitors like family. We feel very welcome here and would love to stay longer,” he said.
