GEORGE TOWN: Penang civil servants will receive a special financial assistance payment equivalent to one month's salary in December in recognition of their contributions to the state.
Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow announced the payment when tabling the Penang Budget 2027 at the state assembly on Friday (Oct 30).
He said the payment was a token of appreciation for the commitment and dedication of civil servants in ensuring the smooth administration and development of the state.
Chow also announced a one-off payment of RM300 each for teachers and staff from several religious and private educational institutions in Penang.
The recipients include supervisors and teachers of Al-Quran and Fardu Ain (KAFA) classes, teachers and staff of people's religious primary schools (SRAR) and secondary schools (SMAR), as well as those serving in government-aided religious schools (SABK).
Tahfiz, pondok and Islamic kindergarten (TADIS) teachers will also receive the payment.
Teachers and staff of Chinese private schools in Penang are also eligible for the RM300 assistance.
Chow said the two financial assistance initiatives would benefit a total of 7,292 recipients, involving an allocation of RM16.207mil.
Both payments are scheduled to be disbursed in December this year.
