Hadi signals continued PN-BN cooperation beyond Melaka polls

PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.

MELAKA: PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang has signalled that Perikatan Nasional and Barisan Nasional will continue their political cooperation beyond the Melaka state election and into the federal level.

He said both coalitions were committed to smoothing over differences, aligning their electoral machinery, and securing future election victories.

"What is important is that our cooperation brings victory. We can resolve all problems through cooperation, and the division of machinery between both sides can be carried out systematically," he told reporters at Dewan Tunku Ali, the nomination centre for the N17 Bukit Katil state constituency on Saturday (Oct 31).

Asked whether further efforts would be made to strengthen the cooperation after the Melaka polls, Abdul Hadi said it would continue.

"God willing, it will continue. We expect things to be better after gaining experience in Johor, Negri Sembilan and now, for the third time, in Melaka," he said.

He also indicated that the cooperation could extend to the federal level.

"God willing, at the federal level as well," he said.

On whether similar cooperation would take place in states such as Kelantan and Terengganu, Abdul Hadi said it would also continue.

"God willing, there will be cooperation," he added.
