The conferment of the Darjah Kebesaran Dato’ Paduka Mahkota Terengganu (D.P.M.T.) on PTT Synergy Group Bhd (PTT) group deputy chairman Datuk Terry Teo Swee Leng marks a meaningful milestone in a career built on enterprise, leadership and long-term vision.
Born and raised in Terengganu, where he attended SMK Sultan Sulaiman, Teo maintains a close connection to the state that shaped his formative years.
With close to four decades of experience in construction and over 20 years in property development, Teo has played an important role in shaping businesses that create lasting value.
He holds a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the Federal Institute of Technology, Kuala Lumpur. Beyond business, he is also active in public and community service.
He is the founder of Denai Alam Recreational and Riding Club (DARC), Malaysia’s first non-profit horse-riding club.
He has served as the Honorary Consul of Nepal in Malaysia since 2017, with his tenure extended until 2027.
He is also a trustee of Sakyamuni Dharma Centre and Sakyamuni Buddha Foundation, as well as treasurer of the International Buddha Confederation.
His journey mirrors the transformation of PTT itself.
PTT began as one of Malaysia’s leading construction companies, with strong capabilities in earthworks and infrastructure works.
Over time, the group built deep execution expertise and today also boasts the largest heavy machinery and equipment fleet in Malaysia, giving it a strong in-house foundation to deliver projects with speed, control and efficiency.
From these roots, PTT has evolved into a broader industrial platform with a footprint across Selangor, Johor, Penang and other parts of Peninsular Malaysia, while also extending its presence into South-East Asia.
Today, PTT brings together three interconnected parts of one business.
First is its construction capability, anchored by its expertise in earthworks and infrastructure works, serving both external customers and PTT’s own developments. This gives the group an established third-party contracting business while retaining strong in-house execution capacity. Second is its industrial infrastructure platform, where the group sources land, designs and delivers purpose-built industrial facilities tailored to customer needs. Third is its warehouse and logistics segment, which focuses on what happens inside the facility once it is built, including automation, operations and the longer-term relationship that follows.
Together, these capabilities allow PTT to offer a single point of contact from land sourcing, design and engineering to construction, automation, ownership and long-term management.
This integrated model is increasingly relevant to industries that require smarter, more efficient and more resilient supply chain infrastructure. PTT serves businesses across semiconductors, retail, fast-moving consumer goods, pharmaceuticals, B2C omnichannel fulfilment, industrial, consumer goods and general logistics. More notably, the group has built a track record of serving leading players in their respective industries, strengthening its positioning as a partner of choice as others in the market look to adopt similar infrastructure and automation solutions.
A key example is PTT Logistics Hub 1 (PTTLH1) in Elmina Business Park, Selangor, the group’s first fully automated logistics facility.
Officially unveiled in August 2025, PTTLH1 was designed as a next-generation smart warehouse integrating Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (ASRS), AI-driven inventory management and energy-efficient infrastructure. The project was completed five months ahead of schedule, reflecting the Group’s execution strength and ability to translate engineering capability into modern industrial infrastructure. It also marked an important commercial milestone for PTT, as the asset was later monetised through a sale-and-leaseback transaction with CapitaLand Malaysia Trust.
PTT then reinforced this capability further with the PTT Semicon Logistics Hub at Valdor Industrial Park, Seberang Perai Selatan, Penang, delivered through its wholly owned subsidiary PROTT Sdn Bhd for Jabil, a global leader in engineering, supply chain and manufacturing solutions.
The facility was purpose-built to support the complex demands of advanced manufacturing and electronics-related supply chains.
The project also carries a sustainability dimension, with green building considerations embedded into the facility and a target to achieve GreenRE Bronze certification, supported by a planned rooftop solar photovoltaic system.
Taken together, PTTLH1 and the PTT Semicon Logistics Hub show how PTT has progressed well beyond traditional construction. The group is increasingly building the infrastructure layer that enables high value industries to operate more efficiently, more intelligently and at greater scale.
For Malaysia, this matters because sectors such as semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, retail and fast-moving consumer goods increasingly require specialised facilities that combine engineering, automation and long-term operational capability. For PTT, it represents a clear opportunity to participate in more parts of the value chain, from land and infrastructure delivery to long-term logistics and industrial asset management.
For Teo, the recognition conferred upon him comes at a time when PTT is entering a new phase of growth. From a strong construction heritage, the group has built an integrated platform that supports the needs of modern industry, not just in Malaysia, but increasingly across the region.
