Boy drowns after falling into drain in Teluk Intan


IPOH: A seven-year-old boy was found drowned after he was believed to have fallen into a drain at Jalan Chenderong Balai, Labu Kubong near Teluk Intan early on Wednesday (Sept 24).

Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting assistant director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the victim was believed to have fallen into a two-metre-deep drain in an incident that occurred between 5pm and 6pm on Tuesday (Sept 23).

He said a team from the Teluk Intan Fire and Rescue Station was dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at 12.23am.

"Villagers had earlier tried to locate the victim but failed. Firefighters later found the body at the bottom of the drain about 800m from where he was reported to have fallen.

"The body was handed over to the police for further action. The operation concluded at about 4.10am," he said. - Bernama
