THE Salvation Army Ipoh raised RM220,000 from its open day held at one of the homes it operates in Jalan Raja Permaisuri Bainun, in Perak.
Funds raised will go towards supporting the Ipoh Boys’ Home, Ipoh Children’s Home, Perak Home for the Aged as well as broader community services.
Organising chairman N. Dawamani said the organisation was deeply touched by the support shown by the public, sponsors, stallholders and volunteers.
“The funds raised will help The Salvation Army continue providing care, support and services to children, young people, the elderly and members of the community who need assistance,” she said in a statement.
“The success of the event would not have been possible without the generosity and commitment of the community.”
The event featured a variety of activities including games, face painting, free health screenings and photo opportunities with superhero mascots.
The public also had a chance to interact with staff, volunteers and beneficiaries, while understanding better the services provided by the organisation.
A highlight of the opening ceremony was a cultural dance by residents of the children’s and boys’ homes.
