A charity in Ipoh is aiming to raise RM200,000 during its upcoming Open Day to support vulnerable communities at four of its welfare centres.
Salvation Army Ipoh organising chairperson N. Dawamani said the funds would go towards maintaining operations at Ipoh Children’s Home, Ipoh Boys’ Home, Perak Home for the Aged and its Community Service Centre.
The event is set to take place at the Children’s Home at Jalan Raja Permaisuri Bainun on Aug 15 from 9am to 1pm.
“The Salvation Army has been serving vulnerable communities in Malaysia since 1938, providing residential care for children, elderly care, family support, emergency relief and a wide range of community services.
“Every contribution will help provide safe accommodation, nutritious meals, education, healthcare, counselling and holistic care for children, as well as quality care and support for senior citizens and families experiencing hardship,” said Dawamani.
She added that the annual Open Day was a key fundraising initiative, enabling these essential services to continue uninterrupted.
Visitors can look forward to a variety of activities, including games, performances, food stalls and free health checks.
Dawamani said the event also offered the public a chance to learn more about the organisation’s work and see first-hand the impact of their support.
“The Open Day is an opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy a meaningful day with family and friends, and make a lasting difference in the lives of those entrusted to our care,” she said.
