PETALING JAYA: Tasek Ipoh in Perak recorded the highest Air Pollutant Index (API) reading in the country at 184 as of 10am Thursday (Sept 17), according to the Air Pollutant Index Management System (APIMS).
A total of 29 locations recorded unhealthy air quality levels, with five of them in Perak, including Tasek Ipoh, Seri Manjung, Pegoh Ipoh, Taiping and Tanjung Malim.
Meanwhile, 32 locations recorded moderate air quality levels, while seven recorded good levels.
The seven locations with good air quality readings are all from Sabah and Sarawak. Among them are Sarikei, Mukah, Kapit in Sarawak, as well as Keningau, Politeknik Kota Kinabalu, Sandakan and Kota Kinabalu in Sabah.
Kota Kinabalu recorded the lowest API reading at 27.
None of the monitoring stations recorded hazardous or very unhealthy air quality levels.
API readings of between zero and 50 indicate good air quality, 51 to 100 moderate, 101 to 200 unhealthy, 201 to 300 very unhealthy, while readings above 300 are categorised as hazardous.
API data is released hourly based on readings from 68 air quality monitoring stations nationwide.
