IPOH: Three senior citizens were rescued after a fire broke out at a house in Taman Boon Bak here early Thursday (Sept 17) morning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant operations director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said a distress call was received at 12.44am and firefighters arrived at the scene six minutes later.
He said the fire involved a 20ft by 70ft Class A house, with about 30% of the premises, including furniture in the living room, destroyed.
“Three victims, comprising two men and a woman, all in their 70s, were in the house when the fire broke out.
“One of the men, a person with disabilities, sustained a leg injury, while the other two victims were unharmed,” he said in a statement today.
He said the injured man was taken by ambulance to the hospital for further treatment.
“A total of 13 personnel from the Pasir Puteh and Ipoh Fire and Rescue stations were deployed to the scene.
“The operation was brought under control at 1.15am and ended at 1.40am,” he said.
