30 nabbed for selling fake temporary employment passes
PETALING JAYA: A syndicate selling forged temporary employment passes (e-PLKS) has been busted, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail (pic).
The Home Minister said the syndicate members were nabbed following simultaneous raids at 11 locations on Jalan Chan Sow Lin.
“Through swift and uncompromising enforcement by the Immigration Department (JIM) under the Home Ministry, 11 premises on Jalan Chan Sow Lin in Kuala Lumpur were raided simultaneously under Ops Serkap,” he said.
A total of 30 foreigners were arrested, including 11 Bangladeshis, who were alleged key members of the syndicate that had been operating at the premises.
“Seized items included 18 laptops, 21 printers and scanners, three mobile phones, 10 Bangladeshi international passports, as well as printed e-PLKS and false police reports which were being processed.
“The fake documents were allegedly sold at RM150 per fake e-PLKS and RM70 for each fake police report,” he said.
All arrested suspects were taken to the Putrajaya Immigration Depot for further investigations.
“The Immigration Department is no longer taking a defensive approach, but is instead taking the fight to the syndicates by targeting their main sources of operations.
“The ministry’s leadership is firm in dismantling this chain of fraud at its roots, without any tolerance.
“Any foreign national or local who attempts to violate the law, forge documents or engage in illegal activities will be pursued, arrested and brought to justice in accordance with the law.”
