PUTRAJAYA: Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said every school bullying incident must be reported without compromise and investigated transparently in line with existing guidelines under her ministry’s jurisdiction.
She stressed that all schools carry a significant responsibility to address bullying, describing it not only as a legal matter but also as a moral obligation.
“We will not compromise on anything that could potentially sweep bullying under the carpet. I have repeatedly emphasised that all bullying incidents must be reported according to regulations before they are brought to the tribunal level,” she said at a press conference, after attending the Anti-Bullying Tribunal Townhall Session here yesterday.
“There must be accountability from administrators and teachers to report and take full responsibility when bullying occurs in schools.”
Fadhlina said guidelines make it clear that schools should not fear reporting such cases.
“We have given our assurance that all bullying cases will be investigated transparently, and that children must have access to make reports,” she said.
She added that the ministry has revamped its complaint portal to allow reports to be submitted anonymously if complainants are worried about revealing their identities.
