IPOH: The third day of the search and rescue (SAR) operation for a female hiker who went missing at Gunung Batu Putih has yet to yield results.
The operation near Tapah will resume Thursday (May 28) morning.
Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said 12 SAR team members will remain overnight at the summit on Wednesday (May 29).
This follows the suspension of the search late this evening.
The team entered the operation area this morning via an AW139 aircraft at Bukit Berapit 2.
They reached the Kem Sukaneka area after a five-hour trek along the mountain ridge.
"The search started from the junction leading to Kem Sekali based on the latest information and the timeline of the victim's movement," Sabarodzi said in a statement.
Kem Sekali is located between Kem Sukaneka and Gunung Rayu.
Wednesday's operation also involved a larger deployment of personnel from the Royal Malaysia Police.
The search was suspended at 6pm and will resume at 8am Thursday.
The hiker, Jaslinda Saludin, 49, started the Trans Spencer Chapman trail at 2am on May 23.
She was part of a group of 13 hikers and two mountain guides on the Pos Gedung-Gunung Bah Gading-Gunung Batu Putih-Kuala Woh route.
Jaslinda and another hiker, Mohd Hanafi Neikmad, 41, experienced health issues and stopped during the trek.
However, Jaslinda reportedly continued her ascent to the summit and was last seen by a mountain guide at 7.30am on Sunday (May 24). - Bernama
