SAR team finds footprints, items believed to belong to missing hiker near Tapah


IPOH: Search and rescue (SAR) personnel have found footprints and items believed to have been left behind by the missing female hiker at Gunung Batu Putih in Tapah.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department director Sayani Saidon said a team of eight SAR personnel found a bottle, candy wrappers and supplement drinks during the search for Jaslinda Saludin on Tuesday (May 26).

The items, Sayani said, were found along a path towards Gunung Rayu.

"Efforts to locate the missing hiker will focus around the area near Kem Sukaneka, Gunung Rayu and Bukit Berapit towards Pos Musoh," she said in a statement.

The hiker had gone missing during a trekking expedition along the Trans Spencer Chapman trail at Puncak Gunung Batu Putih in Tapah on Saturday (May 23).

She was among a group of 14 hikers that were accompanied by two mountain guides.

Another hiker, Mohd Hanafi Neikmad, 41, had suffered health complications and was rescued, while 12 others safely completed the expedition on Sunday (May 24).
