Armed forces veteran killed in car crash 


KUALA LUMPUR: An armed forces retiree riding a motorcycle was killed when he collided with a car along Jalan Kampung Pandan here on Monday (May 25).

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department chief Asst Comm Mohd Zamzuri Mohd Isa said that the man, 45, was riding on the left lane when he collided with a sedan exiting a junction from the left.

"Due to the collision, the victim suffered severe injuries to his head and body and was rushed to Kuala Lumpur Hospital for treatment, where he died while being treated at the emergency ward," he said in a statement on Wednesday, adding that the sedan driver, 44, along with other passengers in the car was unhurt.

Reviews of CCTV footage at a nearby premises revealed that the driver had come to the location to pick up his friend before heading out towards Damansara.

The car driver, who was arrested on Tuesday to facilitate the investigation under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, tested negative for alcohol and drugs.
