INDIAN homemakers have urged the government to expand the Sumbangan Asas Rahmah (Sara) scheme to small Indian shops and stores, Makkal Osai reported.

Saratha Punithan and Mageswari Sakthivel said they depended on small Indian-owned shops and stores in their residential areas for groceries. This is even more so in the run-up to Deepavali on Oct 20, said R. Prema Kumari and Jenny Mugunthan.

> A woman in India was tied to a tree and attacked by her sister-in-law and nieces over a property dispute, Malaysia Nanban reported.

The problem began when Chinnaiyal, 47, started building a house on a piece of land co-owned by her deceased husband and his two brothers in Kadalur, Tamil Nadu.

Selvarani, 55, whose late husband was one of the co-owners, objected as the land had not been properly divided yet.

Angered by her objection, Chinnaiyal and her three daughters attacked Selvarani, tearing up her saree before using it to tie her to a tree and beating her up.
