Students shouldn't be wearing lock-up gear, says Mara chairman

PETALING JAYA: "I do not want to see any of my MRSM (Mara Junior Science College) students clad in lock-up outfits and being led away."

These were the words of caution by Mara chairman Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki after seven students from the Besut MRSM were arrested over a bullying case at the college.

In a video posted on Facebook, Asyraf visited the college and told MRSM students to break the "chain" of bullying juniors because they were themselves bullied before.

"Just because you were bullied by your seniors, let us not do the same to our younger students as if it was 'payback' time. There is no such thing and we want to get rid of this bullying culture.

"I was heartbroken seeing my MRSM students clad in lock-up clothing. Let this be an isolated case. I do not want to see any more.

"I need to assure parents of all MRSM students that their children are safe here and their well-being is taken care of," he said

On Friday, police said the teenagers, aged from 15 to 17, were nabbed after a Form Two student lodged a report alleging he was bullied by several of his college mates at around 11.30pm on June 24.

The victim suffered injuries to his abdomen, right rib and back.
