Thunderstorm warning issued for Perlis, Kedah, and Penang


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected in Perlis, Kedah, and Pulau Pinang, with warnings issued by the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) in effect until 3pm on Monday (June 9).

In Kedah, areas including Langkawi, Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Yan, Pendang, and Kuala Muda are on alert for severe weather.

Pulau Pinang is also expected to experience adverse conditions.

MetMalaysia issues this warning when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to persist for more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
