Rafizi not keen on any appointed PKR post

AMPANG: Outgoing Economy Minister Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli has revealed that he is not in favour of being appointed as a second PKR deputy president, as proposed by Nurul Izzah Anwar.

"I've made it clear from the beginning that I won't be accepting any offers. That's already known.

"In fact, when Nurul Izzah met me the other day, she tried to propose the idea of appointing me as a deputy president – but even if it were a nominated deputy president or president post, I'm not interested," he said when met at Madani Youth Carnival 2.0 here on Sunday (June 1).

Rafizi said that his decision was not about positions but about the message and struggle he wanted to uphold.

"I will remain a PKR member. That's a responsibility. Politics must be tied to the mandate and the people who brought us to this point.

"So if people ask why I'm staying on as an MP or why I haven't stepped down – the ones who elected me are the rakyat. I must respect their decision," he said.

He added that he would continue to serve in his current grassroots role.

"I'm still the Pandan PKR division chief in and I must respect their mandate," he said.

When asked if he had received offers from other parties, Rafizi said he was unaware as he had not checked.

He also dismissed the notion of forming a new political party.

"If I had any plans, I wouldn't be telling you. It's not very smart to speak to the media about plans you haven't even launched, he said.
