PETALING JAYA: The PAS Youth Council is set to organise the Himpunan Mega Penyatuan Ummah (Mega Ummah Unification Rally) as the climax of its ongoing initiative to unite the Malay-Muslim electorate.
PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudeen announced the initiative during his opening address at the 67th PAS Youth Council Muktamar on Thursday (Sept 3), which was officiated by PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man.
Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhammad Akmal Salleh and key leadership delegations from both parties were also present, reported Sinar Harian.
Afnan said the initiative centres on five core pillars—unity of faith, ranks, effort, determination, and goals—supported by ground movements across four key sectors: religious institutions, youth mobilisation, professional technocrats, and inter-ethnic community relations.
"When Muslims unite, the rights of other religions and races are defended fairly and equitably. We may differ in faith and culture, but we share the same future," Afnan said.
Addressing the division among Malay-Muslim political factions, Afnan warned that group self-interest threatens the community's future political and economic leverage.
He called for structural efforts that extend beyond electoral cycles and party politics.
"Parties are merely vehicles for the struggle. Coalitions and party names change, but our faith and duty to the people do not," he said, reiterating PAS Youth's commitment to maintaining ties with Umno Youth to consolidate Malay-Muslim political strength.
