112 foreigners denied entry into Malaysia for failing to adhere to regulations

KUALA LUMPUR: A total of 112 individuals from Bangladesh, Pakistan and India were prohibited from entering Malaysia via the KL International Airport (KLIA) on Monday (May 19).

They were denied entry as the did not adhere to regulations set by the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS).

"It is a result of continuous monitoring by the agency's surveillance unit," the AKPS said in a statement on Tuesday (May 20).

The operation involved inspections of more than 300 individuals from various countries, the agency said.

"It was discovered a group of foreigners had failed to go to the Immigration counters despite landing more than six hours prior.

"They did so deliberately to create doubt over their intentions of coming to the country," it said.

All 112 foreigners detained were brought to KLIA AKPS Surveillance Unit Office for further checks before a decision was made to prohibit them from entering the country.

"We will continue to step up such operations and enforfements to ensure the safety of the country's entry points are preserved," the agency said.
