Five immigration offenders detained in Brunei's latest enforcement operations

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN: Five foreign nationals were detained during a series of enforcement operations conducted by the Immigration and National Registration Department (INRD) under the Ministry of Home Affairs, according to a press release from the department.

The operations, carried out by the Law Enforcement Division in Bandar Seri Begawan, were part of the ongoing Operasi Kakas 2026 aimed at tackling immigration offences in the country.

Under Operasi Kakas 37/2026, inspections were conducted at houses and rented rooms in Mukim Berakas ‘A’, where 12 foreign nationals were checked. One individual was detained for further investigation for allegedly breaching Regulation 15(2) of the Immigration Regulations, Chapter 17, for not working with the original employer.

In Operasi Kakas 40/2026, enforcement officers inspected business premises in Mukim Sengkurong, involving eight foreign nationals. Two individuals were detained, one for allegedly overstaying under Section 15(1) of the Immigration Act, Chapter 17, and another for not working with the original employer under Regulation 15(2).

Meanwhile, Operasi Kakas 41/2026 targeted business premises in Mukim Gadong ‘A’, where four foreign nationals were inspected. Two individuals were detained for allegedly working using a visit pass, in violation of Regulation 9(4) of the Immigration Regulations.

All detainees were taken to the Law Enforcement Division for further investigation.

The department reiterated its commitment to continue enforcement efforts against immigration offenders and reminded employers and foreign nationals to comply with the country’s immigration laws and regulations. - Broneo Bulletin/ANN
