PETALING JAYA: Newcomers often require time to settle into a new league, but Immigration have found their rhythm and are now eyeing a sixth-place finish as their debut Super League campaign enters its final stretch.
The Mighty Tigers initially struggled to cope with the intensity of top-flight football but grew in strength gradually.
In their first seven matches, they did not even get a win and only tasted victory on Nov 2, when they beat Penang 1-0.
Since then, they have won seven out of 13 matches and have slowly moved up the rankings in the league.
Coach Yusri Che Lah has praised his players’ determination, highlighting their steady progress as a sign of growing tactical maturity and stronger on-field chemistry.
“I believe everyone involved, especially the players, has done an excellent job.
“We’ve managed to keep moving forward despite our slow start,” said Yusri.
“My players have proven they belong at this level and can contribute right until the end of the season.”
Immigration currently sit sixth with 25 points from 21 matches, holding a slender one-point advantage over Negri Sembilan in seventh.
With three games remaining, the battle for a top-six finish is intensifying.
Immigration’s next assignment is against Brunei at Perlis Stadium tomorrow, where a victory could help them consolidate their position.
Yusri has urged his squad to seize the opportunity, especially after their emphatic 5-0 win over Police last week.
“Against Police, we targeted all three points because every point at this stage is incredibly precious,” he said.
“We are currently sixth after overtaking Negri, and now it is up to us to determine our final position.
“We face Brunei next, and it is vital that we secure points. If results don’t go our way, other mid-table teams can still catch us.”
