Railway Assets Corporation apologises to commuters over inadequate facilities at train stations

PETALING JAYA: The Railway Assets Corporation (RAC) has apologised to commuters affected by the lack of infrastructure and facilities at some KTM stations under its purview.

The RAC was responding to The Star's report on May 8 titled: "Lack of basic facilities frustrates commuters."

"The RAC understands and acknowledges the concerns raised, particularly when public transport facilities do not fully meet the needs of all passengers. We sincerely apologise to those affected and want to assure everyone that we are committed to improving the facilities," it said in a statement on Thursday (May 8).

RAC said it is dedicated to ensuring that all stations are safe and functional.

"We value the public's feedback and will continue to assess these issues as we work towards better service.

"The facilities at Bandar Tasik Selatan Station are in good condition and fully functional, with two lifts that are accessible to all passengers. These lifts are regularly maintained to ensure passenger safety and comfort.

"In addition to the lifts, there is a pedestrian bridge connecting both platforms with lifts available at both ends to make it easier for passengers, especially the elderly, people with disabilities and those travelling with children," it added.

Checks by The Star found that there was only one lift and one staircase to connect the Bandar Tasik Selatan KTM platform to its entrance.

The Star's visit to the Seputeh and Salak Selatan KTM stations found that both only had a single entrance to its train platforms, with a single pedestrian bridge that connects both platforms.
