PETALING JAYA: A motorcyclist has been killed and another injured in a three-vehicle crash at KM23.9 of the Damansara-Puchong Highway (LDP) here.
Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Muhamad Farid Ahmad said police received a report on the fatal accident at about 1.06pm on Friday (Aug 7).
Initial investigations found that a van had stopped in the left lane of the four-lane highway after it was involved in an earlier collision with another vehicle.
"A motorcyclist coming from behind attempted to avoid the stationary van but failed, causing him to skid and fall onto the middle lane.
"A second motorcyclist who was unable to avoid the victim crashed into him," he said in a statement on Friday.
He said the first motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene and the second rider suffered a shoulder injury and was taken to Hospital Serdang for treatment. The van driver was unhurt.
ACP Muhamad Farid said the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
He urged anyone with information on the incident to contact the Serdang police headquarters to assist in the investigation.
