PETALING JAYA: The Negri Sembilan executive council has no authority to suspend the state secretary and state legal advisor, says the Attorney General's Chambers (AGC).
The AGC was responding to an earlier statement on Tuesday (Sept 22) by Negri Sembilan Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Ismail Lasim that the council had suspended the two state officials.
"Matters regarding appointments, including the suspension of duties of the state secretary and legal advisor, fall under the purview of the Public Services Commission and the Judicial and Legal Service Commission respectively as stated under Article 37 of the Laws of the Constitution of Negeri Sembilan (UUTKNS) 1959," the AGC said in a statement on Tuesday.
The AGC further said that the appointment of a new state legal advisor has to be made by the Judicial and Legal Service Commission under the same Article 37 of UUTKNS.
