Give way for Saifuddin to fill PKR deputy president post, says division chief

PETALING JAYA: PKR leaders have been urged to set aside internal competition and provide a clear path for Pakatan Harapan secretary-general, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, to assume the position of the party’s deputy president.

PKR Titiwangsa division chief, Syed Badli Shah Syed Osman, said that such a move would not only help maintain party stability ahead of elections but also allow Saifuddin to play a significant role as the party’s number two in supporting Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim in leading the party.

“As a senior leader who has experienced the ups and downs of the party's struggles, I believe it is time Saifuddin is given an uncontested path.

“This is also important to preserve the party’s image in the eyes of the public,” he said, reported by Sinar Hartian on Tuesday (May 6).

Syed Badli noted that speculations of Datuk Seri Rafizi Ramli’s resignation as deputy president and his leave from his position as Economy Minister have caused unease among party members and those in the Unity Government.

“Rafizi should promptly come forward to clarify the matter and not allow this issue to continue being politicised, which could distract the Prime Minister from his efforts to strengthen the economy and the government,” he said.

According to Syed Badli, if the speculation is true, Rafizi should compromise and give way to Saifuddin without triggering an internal contest that could divide the party.

“I am confident that a compromise between these two figures would not only boost public support but also reinforce internal political stability within the party,” he added.
