Teen found drowned after falling into drain near college in Bangi

PETALING JAYA: A 16-year-old boy was found drowned after he was believed to have fallen into a drain near the entrance of a college in Bangi on Wednesday (June 24).

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said the department received an emergency call regarding the incident at 4.23pm.

“Four firefighters from the Semenyih Fire and Rescue Station, along with a fire engine, were deployed to the scene, located about 13km away.

“Based on preliminary information from the victim’s friends, the teenager is believed to have fallen into the drain before being swept away by the current,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Ashrul Riezal said the victim was later found about 2km from the location where he was reported to have fallen, in a water catchment area.

“However, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The case has been handed over to the police for further action,” he said.
