Perak police chief Comm Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the raid and arrests were carried out by the Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department of the Perak police contingent headquarters at about 8.45pm on Monday (June 22).
He said the operation targeted drug trafficking activities allegedly conducted by local suspects in the area.
“Three suspects comprising two men and one woman, aged between 17 and 43, who are believed to be involved in the drug trafficking syndicate were arrested.
“A search of the premises led to the seizure of one transparent plastic packet and nine transparent plastic packets containing suspected ketamine weighing 1,001g.
“Besides that, 350 aluminium foil packets, each containing 10 suspected Erimin 5 pills, totalling 3,500 pills weighing 1,100g,” Comm Mohd Alwi said in a statement on Thursday (June 24)
He said urine screening tests found one suspect positive for ketamine, while the other two tested negative.
“Initial investigations revealed that the drug trafficking activity had been active for nearly two years.
“The seized drugs are believed to have been intended for distribution within Perak and could supply about 3,000 drug users,” he added.
Comm Mohd Alwi said the first suspect was remanded for four days from June 23 to June 26, while the third suspect was remanded for six days from June 23 to June 28.
However, the Magistrate’s Court in Ipoh rejected the remand application for the second suspect.
