TAPAH: Newly elected Ayer Kuning assemblyman Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir (pic) says he will strive to fulfill all pledges in the Barisan Nasional manifesto.

"I am grateful to God for giving me the opportunity to shoulder the responsibility as Ayer Kuning assemblyman.

"Everything we have pledged and committed to in our manifesto, we will strive to fulfill for the comfort and benefit of the people," he said after the official results were announced by the Election Commission at Dewan Merdeka here on Saturday (April 26).

Perak Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad thanked all the voters placed their trust in Barisan's candidate, adding he would personally give any guidance needed to Mohamad Yusri.

He also said all communities in the constituency gave their support to the candidate.

"It's good because it reflects that Ayer Kuning voters love peace, reject provocation and slander," he said.

Saarani said about the majority, it reflected the real level of support.

"We saw Perikatan votes drop from 6,812 to 6,059," he said, adding that he noticed an increase in support from young voters.

When asked if the larger majority required a bigger commitment for Barisan, Saarani said they never made empty promises when campaigning.

"We explained that we are developing the Automotive High Technology Valley (AHTV) in Tanjung Malim, offering no less than 10,000 job opportunities.

"This benefits Ayer Kuning residents, too, because it's nearby and they can commute daily without relocating.

"The key is to create jobs so the people here can earn a living and improve their quality of life," he said.
