SUBANG JAYA: The police have not received any reports of deaths or thefts related to the gas pipeline fire at Putra Heights, says Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan.
The Selangor police chief said a total of 675 police reports were lodged concerning damaged houses, vehicles, and belongings due to the incident.
"We also recorded the statements of 186 individuals. However, we have not received any reports of fatalities, nor have we received reports of residents' belongings being missing or stolen," he told reporters at the incident operation centre on Tuesday (April 8).
Comm Hussein said 120 police personnel are on duty 24 hours in the area to ensure the safety and security of residents and the public.
"If there are residents with missing belongings, they should come forward and lodge a police report," he said.
He dismissed online speculation that there were deaths due to the fire.
"I urge social media users not to speculate on such matters as it could cause public distress. There is no fatality involved in the incident. We do not benefit by hiding deaths or fatalities," he said.
Comm Hussein said all the agencies involved have been transparent at every stage of the investigation and other measures regarding the incident.
"Daily updates are given either by the Selangor Mentri Besar or me as the disaster operation commander. We also share drone photos of the work being done. We have nothing to hide," he said.
