KUCHING: Beneficiaries from three community organisations were treated to a breaking of fast meal by the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) on Wednesday (March 19).

The corporation's annual "majlis berbuka puasa" was graced by Sarawak Yang di-Pertua Negeri Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Toh Puan Fauziah Mohd Sanusi.

As part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives, SEDC also handed over contributions worth RM30,880 to the organisations - Yayasan Pelajaran Mara (YPM), Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baiturrahman Kuching and Pusat Jagaan Huda.

"This reflects SEDC's strategic commitment to alleviating educational and welfare challenges faced by underprivileged communities, embodying a comprehensive approach to an initiative that creates meaningful and lasting societal benefits," SEDC said in a statement.

Under its education support initiative, SEDC has partnered with YPM to adopt 10 Form Five students, providing each student with a monthly allowance of RM150 throughout their Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) year.

SEDC also provided assistance packages comprising computers, water filter machines, school uniforms and household necessities to Pertubuhan Kebajikan Baiturrahman Kuching and Pusat Jagaan Huda.

"By nurturing both welfare and educational advancement, the corporation contributes to building a more inclusive and prosperous future for all Sarawakians," it said.
