Nearly RM225k and gold donated for Thaipusam

DEVOTEES contributed a total of RM224,775 in cash and 39.82g in gold as offerings during the 2025 Penang Thaipusam Festival, the Penang Hindu Endowments Board (PHEB) has announced.

According to Makkal Osai, the tally entailed donations offered to the temple and golden chariot.

The total excludes foreign currencies, coins and RM1 notes.

PHEB commissioner and Batu Uban assemblyman A. Kumaresan said the final tally would be posted later on the board’s Facebook page. The funds will be used for improvements to the temple, education and other critical services.
