JOHOR BARU: The Johor branch of the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry is tracking down two individuals to assist in an investigation involving the misuse of subsidised fuel.
State director Lilis Saslinda Pornomo said the case is being investigated under the Control of Supplies Act 1961 following a viral incident involving the filling of RON95 petrol into plastic containers beyond the permitted limit at a petrol station in the Skudai area.
She said enforcement officers have initiated further investigations, including efforts to trace the individuals involved.
“We have tracked and visited the last known addresses of the two individuals. However, they have yet to be located,” she said here on Thursday (March 26).
Lilis Saslinda urged the individuals to come forward and cooperate with authorities.
“We call on them to present themselves at the Johor KPDN office as soon as possible to assist in the investigation,” she added.
She said the ministry takes a serious view of any misuse of controlled goods, including subsidised fuel, and will not hesitate to take action against those found violating regulations.
On Tuesday (March 24), Johor Domestic Trade enforcers announced they were investigating an incident in which RON95 petrol was filled beyond the permitted limit into a plastic container at a Skudai petrol station on March 21.
Lilis Saslinda said the probe follows a viral social media post showing a vehicle allegedly involved in the act.
She added that the premises have been inspected, including a review of CCTV footage and verification of transaction records and purchase receipts.
"Preliminary checks found two RON95 petrol transactions: one into the vehicle’s tank and another into a plastic container in the boot, exceeding the limit set by the Controller of Supplies,” she said.
Lilis Saslinda also said enforcement teams are carrying out further investigations and have issued reminders to ensure strict compliance with regulations to prevent such incidents from recurring.
Lilis Saslinda said the ministry will also trace the vehicle owner to be summoned for investigation.
She urged the public to report information or complaints via WhatsApp at 019-848 8000, the KPDN e-Complaint portal (e-aduan@kpdn.gov.my), 1-800-886-800 hotline, or the Ez ADU KPDN app.
