Forest fire breaks out near MAIS building in Shah Alam


SHAH ALAM: A forest fire near the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) building here on Monday (Aug 17) involved an area of 2.83ha.

The fire, which broke out at about 1.01pm, did not involve any casualties or structures.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ashrul Riezal Asbar said 10 personnel, including firefighters from the Shah Alam Fire and Rescue Station, rushed to the scene after receiving an emergency call at about 1.01pm.

“Checks found that the fire involved seven acres (2.83ha) of hilly forest around the area. However, the incident did not involve any structures or casualties,” he said when contacted.

Ashrul added that firefighting operations using fire beaters and the fire engine’s water pump were still ongoing.
