Cabinet members extend Thaipusam greetings


KUALA LUMPUR: Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil and several other Cabinet members took to social media on Tuesday (Feb 11) to extend Thaipusam greetings to Hindus celebrating the occasion.

In a post on Facebook, Fahmi expressed hope that this year’s Thaipusam would bring more profound meaning and renewed hope to everyone’s lives.

"Happy Thaipusam to all Hindus in Malaysia,” he wrote.

Deputy Communications Minister Teo Nie Ching described Thaipusam as a celebration of unity, where families, friends and communities come together in harmony.

"It is this spirit of togetherness that makes Malaysia so special, and I hope this festival strengthens the bonds of love and understanding among us all.

"Wishing you a Thaipusam filled with joy, good health, and prosperity. May the light of wisdom and grace guide your journey always!” she said in a post on Facebook.

Meanwhile, Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi called on Malaysians to uphold unity and respect for diversity, which he said are the pillars of national harmony.

"Happy Thaipusam to all Hindus in Malaysia. May this celebration bring joy, peace and strength to our lives,” he said.

Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali also encouraged Malaysians to foster closer relations through tolerance and mutual respect for racial and religious diversity.

"May this festive occasion bring happiness and joy to those celebrating. Let us continue strengthening our bonds through tolerance and respect for diversity. May Malaysia remain peaceful and prosperous,” he said. - Bernama
