Sukma 2026: Road closures, diversions in Sepang from Aug 16 to 19

SEPANG: Several major roads in the Sepang district will be closed and traffic diverted in stages from this Sunday (Aug 16) until Aug 19 to make way for the road cycling event at the 2026 Selangor Malaysia Games (Sukma).

Sepang OCPD Asst Comm Norhizam Bahaman said the road closures would be implemented from 8.30am to 12.30pm throughout the period, involving the competition routes used by 142 participants.

He said a total of 96 locations would be monitored for traffic control duties throughout the event, divided into four zones.

"The four zones are Zone A, covering Jalan Pantai Sepang Putra-Sempadan Tumbuk; Zone B (Jalan Dengkil-Jenderam Hulu); Zone C (Jalan Jenderam-Salak); and Zone D (Jalan Salak Sepang-Sungai Pelek).

"All roads involved will be closed in stages from 8.30am to 12.30pm,” he said in a statement on Friday (Aug 14).

He said that on Aug 16, 17 and 19, the routes involved included Persiaran Pantai Sepang Putra, Jalan Kampung Bagan Lalang, Jalan Bukit Bangkong-Tanjung Rhu and Jalan Tumbuk-Sempadan.

Meanwhile, he said the closure on Aug 18 would involve more routes, including Jalan Banting-Semenyih towards Dengkil, Pekan Dengkil, Jalan Jenderam Hilir, Jalan Jenderam-Salak, Bandar Baru Salak Tinggi, Jalan Pekan Salak-Lembah Paya, Jalan Sepang Lama and Jalan Sungai Pelek.

ACP Norhizam said the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Sepang district police headquarters, with assistance from local authority enforcement officers and traffic personnel from the Selangor contingent police headquarters, would be stationed at road junctions and traffic lights, as well as conduct patrols and monitoring along the affected routes.

The public, particularly residents in the surrounding areas and road users, are advised to plan their journeys in advance and use alternative routes to avoid congestion.

Sukma Selangor 2026 is scheduled to take place from tomorrow (Aug 15) to Aug 24, while Para Sukma 2026 will be held from Sept 5 to 14. — Bernama
