Carcasses of cats dumped in Jelutong rubbish bin removed by unknown individuals

GEORGE TOWN: The carcasses of several cats dumped in a rubbish bin in Jelutong have been removed by unknown individuals.

Penang Veterinary Services Department (DVS) director Dr Saira Banu Mohamed Rejab revealed that when a team of investigators arrived at the location on the same day the discovery was reported, they found no trace of the dead cats.

“When the team arrived to investigate, there were no cat carcasses in the rubbish bin,” she said when contacted.

Dr Saira Banu added that the department is investigating all possible aspects of how the cats were killed.

A 29-second viral video, which has been widely circulated online, showed several dead cats dumped in a rubbish bin by the roadside near an SPCA office.

The incident has sparked outrage, with many condemning it as barbaric and calling for a thorough investigation. Social media users have urged the authorities to take strict action against those responsible.
