Housing Ministry buoyed by national award and kudos from PM, says Nga

PETALING JAYA: The Housing and Local Government Ministry revived 862 projects consisting of 102,808 housing units with a gross development value (GDV) of RM85.82bil as of last year.

Its minister Nga Kor Ming said this was done within two years through the Task Force on Sick and Abandoned Housing Projects.

"At the same time the ministry successfully rehabilitated 4,814 housing units and built 245 new units for the poor with an allocation of RM104.4mil," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 5) after presenting the ministry's report card for 2024 to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

"The ministry approved the building of 7,243 MyKiosks at 133 local authorities in the country within two years to upgrade the economic standard and income of thousands of micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs)," he said.

Nga added that the ministry won the Anugerah Pembangunan Negara for the first time last year. The award is given out by the Implementation Coordination Unit of the Prime Minister's Department to recognise government agencies that show excellence in realising the nation's development agenda.

"All this was detailed in our report card and in our discussions, I told the Prime Minister we will work towards being a ministry par excellence," he said.

Nga added that the Prime Minister congratulated the ministry and gave his full support to strengthen its commitment and resolve.
