PMR 2026 to kick off in Ipoh with focus on sustainable cities, quality housing

IPOH: Program Madani Rakyat (PMR) 2026 will kick off here with a focus on sustainable cities and quality housing.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim is expected to officiate the event on April 4 at Bulatan Sultan Azlan Shah here.

The event will run from April 3 to 5, offering a wide range of government services and community-focused initiatives directly to the public.

In a statement issued by the PMR secretariat, it was stated that Perak will be the first stop of this year’s nationwide series, following strong public response across eight states in 2025.

“With the theme ‘Sustainable Cities, Quality Housing, Harmonious Communities’, the programme reflects the government’s push to integrate urban development with public well-being, including efforts to improve housing standards and foster social cohesion,” it said.

“The initiative also aligns with the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan, which emphasises sustainable urban growth, housing development and community welfare,” the statement added.

Coordinated by the Prime Minister’s Office through the Performance Acceleration Coordination Unit (PACU), the flagship initiative is organised in collaboration with various ministries and agencies, as well as the Perak government.

The Housing and Local Government Ministry is the lead ministry for the Perak edition, with the state government acting as host.

The statement added that visitors can expect a range of services and activities, including government service counters, healthcare services, Rahmah and Agro Madani sales, job opportunities, local food festivals and entrepreneur booths.

Other highlights include a motorcycle helmet exchange programme, free engine oil changes for motorcycles, free haircuts, distribution of seeds and saplings, as well as exhibitions by defence and security agencies.

The programme will run from 9am to 10pm on Friday and Saturday, and from 9am to 6pm on Sunday. The public is encouraged to attend and take advantage of the services and activities offered.
